Myanmar dictators: party store owners?
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Myanmar for me was seeing the small quirks in the country’s culture. It appeared that due to its relative isolation, the country has a number of cultural differences that we haven’t found in any of the other countries that we’ve visited.
One of the first quirks we came across was the use of crepe paper (party streamers) for everything. Everything. It’s used instead of toilet paper in bathrooms, instead of napkins at restaurants, and on buses. Strangely, however, we never saw it used to decorate.
