All set and (I think) ready to go
It’s exciting to think that in just a few days we will be landing in Prague. But although we’ve been planning this trip for a while, because of all the stuff we’ve had to do to get ready for the trip, we’re a bit unprepared for what we’re going to do once we get there. I think we underestimated the amount of preparation required to get everything ready for living out of a backpack for 8 months. Quick-dry clothes, headlamps, travel/medical insurance, a system for saving photos, and more (not to mention monsoon-quality waterproofing) – it really took a surprising amount of time to figure out what was needed, what we didn’t have, and how we should get it. And although I think we’ve prepared as much as we can gear-wise, I know we’re eventually going to realize items that we should have packed and items that we should have left at home.
But I think that’s all going to be part of the fun.
The lack of planning time has meant that while we know what countries we want to go to, and the highlights we want to hit, we don’t know the details of exactly how we’re going to be getting around, where we’re going to be staying, or what we’re going to be doing each day.
Hopefully that’s going to be part of the fun too.
Let the adventure begin!
